About the Programme

  • Brief introduction about the initiative.
  • Purpose: To encourage young medical faculty to pursue PhD in biomedical research.
  • Duration: 5 years or submission of PhD, whichever is earlier.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Medical faculty holding MD/MS/DM/MCh/DNB/DrNB/MDS degree.
  • Full-time regular employee with at least one year of service at:
    • NMC/DCI recognized medical colleges
    • UGC recognized research universities
    • Research institutes of National Importance
  • Age Limit: Upper age limit of 45 years (as on last date of application).

Who Can Apply

  • Individuals meeting the above qualifications.
  • Must be associated with:
  • R&D Institutions
  • NMC/DCI recognized Medical/Dental Colleges
  • Institutes of National Importance (INIs)
  • Application through host/parent institute with MoA/MoU with DHR.
Funding & Support
  • Stipend: Not provided.
  • Research Grant: Up to ₹50 lakhs (≈ ₹10 lakhs/year).
  • Duration: Up to 5 years or completion of PhD.

  • AcSIR-ICMR Faculty of Medical Research (FMR) through DHR-ICMR.
  • Guide must be from host institution, senior cadre, relevant biomedical field.
